Israel demolishes two houses in East Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel demolished two Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem Monday, a day before U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was to launch an initial effort to shore up the foundations of a shaky peace process.

Two bulldozers flattened a home owned by Mahmoud al-Abbasi in the Arab neighborhood of Silwan on land Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war.


Israeli authorities said the house was built without a municipal permit.

Palestinians say building permission is nearly impossible to obtain from Israel's Jerusalem city hall and say this is part of a policy to drive out Arab residents.

The Jerusalem municipality said last week it planned to demolish 88 homes, though not immediately, that were built without permits in another section of Silwan, near the walls of Jerusalem's Old City, to create a public garden.

"The entire neighborhood is threatened with this. We asked for a permit but we were turned down. Eight of us lived in this house," Abbasi said after his home was torn down.

Hatem Abdel Qader, a Palestinian Authority adviser on Jerusalem affairs, said the Israeli move was "a message to Palestinians that house demolitions will continue."

An Israeli police spokesman said an "illegally built" Palestinian house was also destroyed in Jabal Mukaber, another East Jerusalem neighborhood.

Israel considers all of Jerusalem its "eternal and united capital" but has not won international recognition of its claim.

Israeli archaeologist Yoni Mizrachi says the Israel Antiquities Authority relies on ElAd for funding and has given control over the archaeological sites in Silwan to ElAd; According to Mizrachi, 'Ir David' is "one of the few sites operated by private organisations and it is the only one run by a right-wing organisation." In an Op-Ed for The Guardian, Palestinian rights activist Yigal Bronner (faculty of the University of Chicago), says of the Israel Antiquities Authority: "the same government agency that in 1997 warned against handing over the site to the settlers is now Elad's happy subcontractor."

The Palestinian Authority says it wants East Jerusalem as the capital of the state it hopes to establish in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Clinton, who attended a Gaza reconstruction conference in Egypt Monday, was to arrive in Israel later in the day.

She was due to meet Israeli leaders Tuesday and Palestinian leaders Wednesday, taking her first steps in the region to get peace negotiations moving after the 22-day Gaza offensive Israel launched in December.

The future of Jerusalem is a major bone of contention in peace talks re-started by the Bush administration in late 2007. Some 500,000 Jews and 260,000 Palestinians live in the city.

So we now see the US offering monetary assistance to Palestine. This after sitting on their hands while Gaza's infrastructure was deliberately destroyed and civilian deaths topped 1000. This looks like a deja vu to me where Bu$hco offered $3 million to Lebanon, while Kuwait offered a$800 million and Saudi Arabia's offer topped 1 billion.

(CNN) -- The United States has offered more than $900 million to help the Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Monday.

"Only by acting now can we turn this crisis into an opportunity that moves us closer to our shared goals," Clinton said at a Gaza donors conference hosted by Egypt in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

"By providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza, we also aim to foster conditions in which a Palestinian state can be fully realized."

She said the U.S. aid package -- which must be approved by Congress -- has been "designed in coordination with the Palestinian Authority" to make sure the money "does not end up in the wrong hands."



U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stressed aid money must be accompanied by a "comprehensive peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors," urging all concerned to "break the cycle of rejection and resistance":

Israel plans for 73,000 housing units in West Bank

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli authorities have made plans for 73,000 new housing units in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, although only a fraction of the proposals has been approved, an anti-settlement group said Monday.

The information, in a new report by Peace Now, indicated that Israel's next government, which right-winger Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to form following last month's election, could have a wide choice of projects for settlement expansion.

Peace Now, which along with the international community views Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank as an obstacle to a viable Palestinian state, said it collated details of housing plans from the government's national mapping website.

The group said the data listed plans for 73,302 new housing units, of which 15,156 units have been approved.

It issued the report before the planned arrival later in the day of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is to hold talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

"If all the plans are realised, the number of settlers in the territories will be doubled" to 600,000, Peace Now said, cautioning such expansion could destroy chances for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In 1945 when Japan surrendered, Chiang's Chongqing government was ill-equipped and damaged from fighting the Japanese, which made it difficult to reassert its authority in eastern China. Sometimes it gained cities that were formerly held by Japanese troops, which was a deeply unpopular course of action. However, with American help, it was able to reclaim the coastal cities.

Following the war, the United States encouraged peace talks between Chiang and Communist leader Mao Zedong in Chongqing. Due to concerns about widespread corruption in Chiang's government, the U.S. suspended aid to Chiang Kai-shek for much of the period of 1946 to 1948, in the midst of fighting against the People's Liberation Army led by Mao Zedong. In the 1950s, allegations of assistance to communist interests in China surfaced involving the withholding of funds for the stabilization of the Chinese currency by certain U.S. officials, including senior U.S. Treasury Department officials and alleged Soviet spies Harry Dexter White, Frank Coe, Solomon Adler, and others, in order to destabilize Chiang's Nationalist government during the Civil War.^[6][7]

Though Chiang had achieved status abroad as a world leader, his government was deteriorating as a result of corruption and inflation. In his diary on June 1948, Chiang wrote that the Kuomintang had failed, not because of external enemies but because of disintegration and rot from within; and it was this, more than any alleged foreign intrigue, that contributed to his defeat. ^[8] The war had severely weakened the Nationalists both in terms of resources and popularity, while the Communists were strengthened by aid from Stalin^{[citation needed]}, and guerrilla organizations extending throughout rural areas. The Nationalists initially had superiority in arms and men; but their lack of popularity, heavy infiltration by communist agents in the nationalist government, and apparent disorganization soon allowed the Communists to gain the upper hand.

Meanwhile a new Constitution was promulgated in 1947, and Chiang Kai-shek was formally elected by the National Assembly to be the first term President of the Republic of China on 20 May 1948.

The Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance (ORHA), was established on January 20, 2003 by the United States Government two months before the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It was intended to act as a caretaker administration in Iraq until the creation of a democratically elected civilian government.

Retired United States Army Lieutenant General Jay Garner was appointed as the Director of ORHA in 2003. Upon the dissolution of ORHA and the creation of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), he then became the first chief executive of the CPA. Due to his past military experiences in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and his reconstruction efforts in northern Iraq during Operation Provide Comfort, Garner's credentials and close ties to the U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld made him an obvious choice for the task. His term, however, lasted only from April 21, 2003, until he was replaced abruptly less than a month later by Paul Bremer on May 11, 2003.

Garner's swift dismissal from his post by U.S. authorities came as a surprise to many within the CPA. In an interview with the BBC program Newsnight, Garner publicly stated that his preference was to put the Iraqi people in charge as soon as possible and to do it with some form of elections. Privately, there was intense pressure from the U.S. Government to begin a process of removing members of the Ba'ath Party from their positions within the Iraqi government and military. Garner's refusal to implement this "de-Ba'athification" of Iraqi society as a matter of public policy infuriated several senior members of the U.S. Government, and led directly to his dismissal.

The first act of the CPA under Paul Bremer was to issue order of de-Ba'athification of Iraqi society. On May 23, CPA Order Number 2 formally disbanded the Iraqi army On July 22, 2003, the CPA formed the Iraqi Governing Council and appointed its members. The Council membership consisted largely of Iraqi expatriates who had previously fled the country during the rule of Saddam Hussein and also with many outspoken dissidents who had been persecuted by the former regime.

In the late afternoon of December 14, 2003, the CPA held a press conference at the Iraqi Forum convention center within Baghdad's Green Zone to announce that former President of Iraq Saddam Hussein had been taken into custody the previous night from a foxhole in a town near Saddam's home town of Tikrit, Iraq. Present at the announcement was Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez of the U.S. Army, Administrator Bremer, members of the British and American intelligence agencies, several members of the Iraqi Governing Council, and a large room full of journalists representing news organizations from around the world.

In order to defeat possible insurgent planning, the CPA transferred power to the newly appointed Iraqi Interim Government at 10:26 AM local time on June 28, 2004. The CPA thus disbanded, L. Paul Bremer left Iraq that same day.

On Jan. 30, 2005, an official report by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction stated that $9 billion for the reconstruction of Iraq might have disappeared in frauds, corruption and other misbehavior. Hmm, what happened to Mr. Bremer? He was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President George Bush.

Brian Views Destruction in Gaza – Calls for Immediate Relief and Change in Policy

Washington, D.C. – Two members of Congress, Brian Baird (D-WA-03), and Keith Ellison, (D-MN-05), visited Gaza on Thursday to view firsthand the destruction from recent Israeli air and ground attacks and to meet with international and local relief agencies. This visit, which did not have the official sanction of the Obama Administration, is the first time anyone from the U.S. government has entered Gaza in more than three years.

Prior to Gaza, both Congressmen met with the chief negotiator of the Palestinian Authority, Dr. Saeb Erekat, as well as with Dr. Riad Malki Foreign Minister of the Palestinian Authority. On Friday, Baird and Ellison will tour the Israeli towns of Sderot and Ashkelon, which have been the target of numerous rockets before and throughout the recent attacks launched from within the Gaza strip.

“Staff from the U.S. State Department advised us of security concerns for our own safety, and we are well aware of the sensitive political issues involved in this visit,” said both Congressmen in an official release.

“We believe it is important to be here to see what happened for ourselves, to meet with people who have been affected, and to express our concern and support,” said Congressman Baird.

“We also want to better understand what can and must be done to recover from the destruction, address the underlying issues, and work toward a lasting, just and peaceful resolution,” added Congressman Ellison.

After spending the day visiting various locations within Gaza and meeting with civilians and relief workers, Baird and Ellison were deeply affected by what they had seen and heard.

“The stories about the children affected me the most,” said Ellison. “No parent, or anyone who cares for kids, can remain unmoved by what Brian and I saw here.”

“The amount of physical destruction and the depth of human suffering here is staggering” said Baird, “Entire neighborhoods have been destroyed, schools completely leveled, fundamental water, sewer, and electricity facilities hit and relief agencies heavily damaged. The personal stories of children being killed in their homes or schools, entire families wiped out, and relief workers prevented from evacuating the wounded are heart wrenching – what went on here, and what is continuing to go on, is shocking and troubling beyond words.”

Plans to build the World Trade Center were initiated and chaired by David Rockefeller, banker, Bilderberg Group member and globalist, who had the original idea of building the WTC, with strong backing from the then New York Governor, his brother Nelson Rockefeller.

Larry Silverstein purchased the entire WTC complex just six months prior to the September 11th attacks.

Silverstein changed the company responsible for the security of the complex. The new company hired was Securacom (now Stratesec). George W. Bush's brother, Marvin Bush, was on its board of directors, their cousin, Wirt Walker III, was its CEO. According to public records. Not only did Securecom provide electronic security for the WTC, it covered Dulles International Airport and United Airlines - two key players in the attacks.

Silverstein, who made a down-payment of 124 million on this 3.2 billion complex, promptly insured it for 7 Billion covering "terrorist attacks". Following the Sept. 11th attacks, Silverstein filed two insurance claims for the maximum amount of the policy, 7 billion, based on the two - in Silverstein's view - separate 9/11 attacks. The insurance company, Swiss Re, paid Mr. Silverstein.

The World Trade Center required more than a billion in renovations and improvements, most of which related to removal and replacement of building materials declared to be health hazards in the years since the WTC was built, such as the fireproof asbestos that coated the structure's steel.

On several occasions the Port Authority attemped to get permits to demolish the WTC for liability reasons, but was turned down due the known asbestos problem. Further, the WTC was still standing until 9-11 because it was too costly to disassemble the twin towers floor by floor, since the Port Authority was prohibited legally from demolishing the WTC. The projected cost to disassemble the towers, 15 Billion. How could Silverstein Group have been ignorant of this?

How convenient that a "terrorist" attack demolished the buildings completely on Sept. 11th.

WTC Building 7 was a part of the WTC complex, and covered under the same insurance policy. This 47 story steel framed structure, which was not struck by an aircraft, mysteriously collapsed 8 hours later that same day into its own footprint at nearly freefall speed. How could this have happened? Mr. Silverstein gave the world the answer when he slipped up during a PBS television interview a year later, on nine eleven two thousand two:

"I remember getting a call from the fire department commander, telling me they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, "We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it." "And they made that decision to pull, and we watched the building collapse." Pull is used as industry jargon for demolition. Regardless, Silverstein did not say pull them, pull the firefighters, he said, pull "it", as if he was referring to the building while also stating "then we watched the building collapse".

One thing is for sure, the decision to 'pull' WTC 7 would have benefitted many people, especially because it has been reported that thousands of sensitive files relating to some of the biggest financial scams in history, including Enron and WorldCom were stored in the offices of WTC 7 tenants.

The SEC has not quantified the number of active cases in which substantial files were destroyed by the collapse of WTC7. Reuters published reports estimating them at three to four thousand. "Ongoing investigations at the New York SEC have been dramatically affected because so much of their work is paper intensive."

Interestingly, FEMA had arrived and was on scene the night before.

Released, September 2000, Project For A New American Century, a Neo Conservative thinktank released a report called "Rebuilding America's Defenses", where it states "the process of transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event, like a new Pearl Harbor".

We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order. David Rockefeller, September 1994, Builderberg Group Founding Member, a group, their own documents show is pushing for a world Government, integrating the United States with Mexico, Canada and population reduction.

Even if you do not believe that 911 was a conspiracy as the overwhelming evidence supporting this shows, you have to at least understand that, 9-11 was for some reason allowed to happen given the countless, documented prior intelligence.

Dennis is the man that brought us the Space Preservation Act 2001 in an attempt to halt chemtrail activity. In the 109th Congress, S. 517: A bill to establish a Weather Modification Operations and Research Board, and for other purposes, was introduced March 3, 2005, by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas). The text of the bill, with the resulting act to be cited as the Weather Modification Research and Technology Transfer Authorization Act of 2005.

The bill was read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. The bill stated that the act was to take effect October 1, 2005.

The rats who now control over 90% of the main stream media are freaking out at the idea of returning to the Fairness Doctrine , which has been held in check for years by Vetoes from both Ronnie Raygun and Poppa Bu$h. The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was (in the Commission's view) honest, equitable, and balanced. Faux News, who's motto is, "cough cough* fair and balanced' has a few things to say about this outrageous possibility.

And needless to menton, so does Clear Channel who owns over 1,100 full-power AM, FM, and shortwave radio stations, twelve radio channels on XM Satellite Radio, and more than 30 television stations in the United States. Premiere Radio Networks, which is the largest syndication company in the United States, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Clear Channel and is home to Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and many others. Sean Hannity recently signed a large multi-market contract with Clear Channel, as well.

In early 2004, Air America Radio Network was launched and was then the only all-progressive talk radio network. A predecessor, the UAW's I.E. America Radio Network, which was home to hosts such as Thom Hartmann, Peter Werbe, and Mike Malloy, never gained national attention. Its last day on the air was February 27, 2004, only weeks before Air America took to the airwaves. Al Franken's show was the centerpiece of the network, and would remain so for a little less than 3 years. The show featured Franken's low key humor, political commentary, and guest and audience participation. AAR became the fastest growing network in modern radio history as Sinton was able to assemble a national network of 100 stations, including 18 of the top twenty markets, in just six months.
